12 people were killed and 40 wounded after Russian bombing of Severodonetsk

At least 12 people have been killed and 40 others injured in heavy Russian bombing raids on the eastern Ukrainian city of Severodonetsk, which is already under siege by Moscow forces, the regional governor said.

The Russians “began to bombard the regional center in the morning, randomly, with heavy weapons. The bombing continues, “Sergei Gaidai told Telegram.

According to Gaidai, most of the bombs hit residential buildings, and the toll could worsen due to the inability to inspect the bombed areas.

The mayor of Severodonetsk, Oleksandr Striuk, announced on May 6 that his city is “almost surrounded” by Russian soldiers and pro-Russian separatists from Donbas, who are trying to impose total control over the region, according to agerpres.ro.

Twelve people killed and 40 others injured in Severodonetsk, eastern Ukraine, in continuous assault

Russian forces “continue to prepare for an assault on the city of Severodonetsk and intensify their operations around Liman”, another city almost surrounded, according to the American Institute for War Studies (ISW).

Severodonetsk and Lyskeansk are the last strongholds of the Ukrainian resistance in the Lugansk region. The Russians encircle both of them, separated only by a river, and bombard them incessantly to exhaust their resistance and prevent reinforcements from arriving.

Severodonetsk residents have not had access to water, electricity and gas for several weeks.
