Boris Becker, the former Wimbledon champion, has been sentenced to two years and six months in prison for bankruptcy offenses.

The 54-year-old man has hidden £ 2.5 million in assets and loans from his creditors, including a luxury villa in Germany, after he went bankrupt in 2017 for an unpaid loan of £ 3 million. of pounds sterling.

He was found guilty in a trial at Southwark Crown Court of four offenses under the Insolvency Act, each of which was punishable by a maximum sentence of seven years.

On Friday, Boris attended the trial wearing a striped tie and the traditional green and purple colors of the tournament that made him famous.

The prosecution told the court that Becker, who is also a BBC commentator, transferred approximately £ 390,000 from his business account to others, including the accounts of his ex-wife Barbara Becker and estranged wife Sharlely “Lilly” Becker.

The money was not recovered.
