UPDATE, 4 p.m.:55: In a video message, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, condemned yesterday’s Russian airstrikes on Kiev, which took place while the UN Secretary was visiting the capital.
Zelenski said the bombings took place “immediately after” his talks with UN chief António Guterres, “and that says a lot about Russia’s true attitude towards global institutions.” He accused Russia’s leadership of trying to “humiliate the UN and everything in the organization.”
A fuel depot in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, controlled by Russian-backed forces, was attacked by the Ukrainian army and set on fire during the night, a local official was quoted as saying by CNN.
This is the warehouse in Kirovsky district.
Alexei Kulemzin, the head of the separatist administration in Donetsk, said that “following the bombing of the Kirovsky district by Ukrainian shells, a tank at the oil depot was damaged.”
He said four power stations were affected. Ukrainian authorities have not commented on the incident.
