UPDATE, 2 p.m.40: Ankara is negotiating with Moscow and Kyiv to open a corridor through Turkey for grain exports from Ukraine, a senior Turkish official said.
More than 20 million tonnes of grain are waiting to be exported in silos.
Russia is now focusing on the war and will agree to a ceasefire only when it is on the verge of defeat, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleba said, according to Ukrinform.
“We agree that a ceasefire is necessary, but I guarantee you 100% that when Russia agrees to a ceasefire, it will be time for it to be on the brink of defeat in the war. And they will agree to a ceasefire for the sole purpose of escaping defeat, and before that the war will continue, “Kuleba said in a briefing after his participation in the World Economic Forum.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister added that Kiev sincerely welcomes any efforts leading to a diplomatic solution.
Kuleba also stressed that given the situation on the ground and an analysis of the Kremlin’s decisions, Russia is focusing on war rather than diplomacy.
