“Why are you staying with him !?” will be open to visitors on May 6, starting at 12.00, at the ARCUB headquarters, Gabroveni Inn.
The museum is built around a fluid concept that started from an affective reality: the epidemiological big bang that visibly changed our lives.
Thus, the Pandemic Museum proposes a new project that shifts the focus from modified or canceled routines and behaviors, to sexual assaults and to physical or verbal violence against women, especially in the period 2020-2021, when we lived more in the “bubbles”.
“You will find a series of testimonies and descriptions of situations in which women have become vulnerable in the couple, becoming victims and survivors of domestic violence. Our team focused on how abusive relationships manage to transcend the walls of personal housing, reaching out to loved ones and the surrounding social systems. Most of the testimonies in the exhibition refer to moments during the pandemic, a period in which the social space shrank dramatically. For victims of domestic violence, tensions and conflicts at home have increased, while access to support of all kinds has become limited. ” (Pandemic Museum Team)
The exhibition will also provide space for expression by friendly artists and organizations that have documented and presented abuses and violence in the family or in institutionalized settings (communist-era placement centers). The concept of the exhibition is more valuable with the installation of the artist Anamaria Pravicencu and with the personal projects of the Abandonment Museum, Fragile Society and ANAIS.
The Apropo Theater is the main partner of the project and will contribute to the staging of a contemporary dramatic text that is directly related to the theme of this new project of the Pandemic Museum.
The project website is www.identitatifragile.com, where we will have an online version of the exhibition, after May 15, as we did with the debut exhibition.
The exhibition is at ARCUB, Gabroveni Inn, Lipscani Street no. 84-90, sector 3, Bucharest.
