Romanian filmmakers are invited to register their productions for the Bucharest International Film Festival


Romanian filmmakers are invited to register in the Romanian Film section of the festival.

Registration information can be found at www.biff.com.ro. BIFF aims to expand the section dedicated to Romanian film and to present as many local films as possible to the Bucharest public and foreign guests.

The film festival will feature 3 feature films and 5 short films representative of contemporary Ukrainian cinema.

The honorary guest of the film festival and also the president of the international jury of the 18th edition, is the Ukrainian director and screenwriter, Valentyn Vasyanovych, winner of several international awards, including the Orizzonti Award for Best film at the 2019 Venice Film Festival.

Valentyn Vasyanovych is campaigning for human rights today on the front lines in Ukraine. At the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Vasyanovych chose to document the atrocities of the Red Army in the town of Irpin, near Kyiv.

The films that the president of the international jury of the edition will present are: “Reflection”, “Atlantis”, “Back Level”, films nominated by Ukraine at the Oscars for foreign film.

These films have also won awards and nominations at the Toronto International Film Festival, the Odessa International Film Festival, the Venice Film Festival and more.

Katyn Forest, directed by Andrzej Wayda, is another film that will be screened in the “Tribute to Ukraine” section. “Katyn” will be presented in memory of those killed in the Katyn and “Bucea” massacres. The Katyn massacre, in which director Andrzej Wayda’s father was killed, took place during World War II.
