Sony Xperia 1 IV was presented with a revolutionary continuous zoom camera. The new Sony Xperia 1 IV is here: photography, video, movies, music and games.
Sony has introduced a variable focal length telephoto camera with last year’s Mark 3, according to GSMArena. It could only switch between 70 mm and 105 mm focal length. The new telephoto camera is completely different and much more impressive.
The Sony Xperia 1 IV camera offers continuous optical zoom, thanks to a revolutionary new design, and magnifies more at the far end. The new range is from 85 mm to 125 mm, which makes a 3.5-5x optical magnification.
The phone stays at 12 MP resolution for all three cameras on the back. The main camera has a 1 / 1.7 ”sensor and an OIS-compatible 24 mm lens. The ultra-wide camera receives a 1 / 2.5 ”sensor with a 16 mm lens (autofocus). To be complete, the telephoto module houses a 1 / 3.5 ”sensor and also has OIS and AF. Also, the two-stage shutter button is still available on the side, following the Xperia tradition.

All three cameras have the same set of features, including 120 fps 4K video capture. All offer Optical SteadyShot with FlawlessEye, Eye AF, plus real-time object tracking and autofocus. All cameras use image stacking to extend the dynamic range and can make 20 fps bursts with AF / AE and HDR enabled. An RGB IR sensor on the back provides information to the AI algorithms that control the white balance of the camera and there is also a 3D ToF sensor.
This year, the 12MP (from 8MP) selfie camera was also updated, thanks to a new 1 / 2.9 ”ExmorRS sensor. This also allows it to record 4K videos with HDR for startup, although it is limited to 30 fps. Disappointingly, he still lacks autofocus.
Going further, Sony believes that the 6.5 ″ 4K AMOLED display of the previous generation was close to perfection, so this year there are only a few upgrades. They are important, however: for example, the screen is 50% brighter. Also, the 120 Hz refresh rate can be used if the game supports it. And this year there is a more robust GPU – Adreno 730 from Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
In terms of memory, Sony only offers a version with 12 GB of RAM. The storage capacity is 256 GB, with a level of 512 GB available in some markets. Better yet, you can extend it through the microSD slot, which is a real rarity in the premium segment. The phone runs Android 12. Last year’s model provided decent battery performance, but this year Sony increased its capacity by 500 mAh to a total of 5,000 mAh.
