The catastrophic floods have affected India, causing significant damage to several houses in a region in the northeast of the country, which were sunk.

More than 500,000 people have fled their homes in the northeastern Indian state of Assam to escape heavy floods triggered by pre-monsoon rains that have already drowned seven people, authorities said, warning that the situation could worsen. .

One of the largest rivers in the world, the Brahmaputra, which flows through India, but also into neighboring Bangladesh in Tibet, has poured its waters over the usual shores of Assam in the past three days, flooding more than 1,500 villages.

“The whole place looks like an ocean,” said Sadanabda Bordoloi, who lives in Nagaon, Assam. He added that it had been raining non-stop for days.

The torrential rains affected most of this devastated state, and the rains continued on Wednesday (May 18), with forecasts also for the next two days.

Cities in other parts of India, especially the capital, New Delhi, are rushing in a heat wave.
