The International Festival “Enescu and World Music”, the 23rd edition, includes 17 concerts and recitals

The month of August is dedicated in Sinaia to the International Festival “Enescu and the Music of the World”, the 23rd edition, in which outdoor concerts will alternate with indoor ones, the main hall being the Sinaia Casino, without renouncing the developments in unconventional spaces made available by Sinaia City Hall, Sinaia Museum, Dimitrie Ghica Park, George Enescu Memorial House.

The project created by the cellist and professor Marin Cazacu starts this year on August 9 with an open-air concert entitled “The Immortal Johann Strauss” supported by the “George Enescu” Philharmonic Ensemble, starting at 7:00 p.m., in Dimitrie Ghica Park in Sinaia.

The symphonic concerts scheduled in the Casino hall in Sinaia will be supported by the Junior Orchestra conducted by Andrei Stănculescu on August 11, under the banner Family of composers – Bach and Haydn, followed by the Romanian Youth Orchestra conducted by Gabriel Bebeşelea, soloist Suyoen Kim, on August 18, with a program of Brahms, Enescu, Joseph Joachim, under the Enescu, Forever label! and the Romanian Sinfonietta Orchestra, conductor and soloist Alexander Sitkovetsky, with a program of Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, on August 23.

Also at the Casino in Sinaia but also at the George Enescu Memorial House, the laureates of the George Enescu International Competition will be able to listen to chamber music on August 17, more specifically a trio recital by Valentin Şerban – violin, Ştefan Cazacu – cello, guest Cătălin Răducanu – piano, on August 24, 26 and 29 being scheduled three preview recitals at the George Enescu international competition (with Izabela Ghergu – cello, Maria Marica – violin, Gabriel Gîţan – piano, Eva Garet – piano, Constantin Borodin – cello, Daria Tudor – piano), and on August 25 the recital of the Musica Viva Ensemble.

On George Enescu’s birthday, more precisely on August 19, at the George Enescu Memorial House, the recital “Enescu at his home” will take place in the open air, from 5:00 p.m. with Ştefan Aprodu – violin and Cătălin Răducanu – piano, still marking once the fact that the festival started as a continuation of the idea of ​​generosity that characterized the spirit of George Enescu and becoming one of the most important stages for the manifestation of young musical talents in Romania.

From 1999 until now, the “Enescu and World Music” International Festival offers those in Sinaia during the summer holidays an attractive program, including outdoors, the 2022 edition having multiple concerts scheduled in Dimitrie Ghica Park, among which Music by movie. Disney Music! with the Junior Orchestra conducted by Andrei Stănculescu on August 10 at 7:00 p.m., “Song, play and good mood” with the Carpathian Crown Folk Ensemble, on August 14, from Baroque to… Rock with the Violoncellissimo ensemble, on August 15, and from classical to entertainment with the soloists of the Romanian Youth Orchestra, on August 27.

As in previous years, the current edition also has at its center the presence of three of Romania’s national youth orchestras, namely the Romanian Youth Orchestra, the Romanian Sinfonietta Orchestra and the Junior Orchestra, as well as a distinguished guest from the field of orchestras of this type, the closing of the festival being signed by the National Youth Orchestra of France, conductor Michael Schønwandt, soloist violinist Sarah Nemţanu, on September 2, at the Casino, with a program of Berlioz, Lalo, Lili Boulanger, Maurice Ravel. The Romanian orchestras performing in this edition – the Romanian Youth Orchestra, the Junior Orchestra and the Romanian Sinfonietta are part of the National Youth Orchestras of Romania project, consisting of exceptional musicians from three age categories and will perform in different evenings, after the end of the internships preparation related to each concert.

The 23rd edition of the festival has no less than 17 concerts and recitals in the program.

In the organization of the Sinaia City Hall and the “Romanian Youth” National Art Center, in collaboration with UCIMR, the “Enescu and the Music of the World” International Festival proposes a dense and diverse program, supported by young and very young musicians.

Marin Cazacu, the initiator of the project, general director of the “George Enescu” Philharmonic declared before this event: “The International Festival “Enescu and world music” has become in the last 23 years the most important platform for the promotion and consecration of the best young musicians . The National Youth Orchestras of Romania prepare and develop in Sinaia, a place of inspiration and imagination for any artist, the city that breathes not only the clean mountain air, but also the effervescent cultural atmosphere that the great composer George Enescu imprinted on the city. The City Hall of Sinaia, the National Art Center “Romanian Youth” and the loyal partners of the festival ensure the musical future of Romania through this project”.
