The Russian army tested a Sarmat-type intercontinental missile on Wednesday, in the context of intense tensions with the West due to the military invasion in Ukraine, informs CNN.

A Sarmat-type intercontinental missile was launched Wednesday afternoon from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in the northern Russian region of Arhangelsk to a target in a test area on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia’s Far East.

“The rocket hit the designated area of ​​Kamchatka,” the Russian Defense Ministry was quoted as saying by CNN, according to Ziarul Financiar.

After the completion of the test program, the Sarmat RS-28 missiles will be equipped with the Russian Strategic Forces.
