The First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden, participated in the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the US and Costa Rican institutions in San Jose to fight childhood cancer during her visit to this Central American country.
First Lady and President Biden – whose son Beau died of cancer in 2005 – have been leading the Cancer Moonshot initiative since 2006, with the mission of accelerating the pace of progress in the fight against cancer.
Costa Rica is the last leg of Dr. Biden’s Latin American tour.
His previous stages included Ecuador and Panama. In each country, Biden emphasized the commitment of the United States to a partnership with each nation, according to the State Department.
