The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenski, met on Thursday in Kyiv with the Prime Minister of Finland, Sanna Marin, with whom he discussed the needs of the Ukrainian army in the context of the military conflict with Ukraine.
“For us, military assistance from Finland is very valuable,” Volodymyr Zelensky said during a meeting with Sanna Marin.

“The weapons, the sanctions policy and the unity of our partners on the issue of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union – all these things can strengthen the defense of our territory,” Volodimir Zelenski was quoted as saying by Le Figaro, according to epicnews.ro.

Finland has applied to join NATO, along with Sweden, for fear of threats from Russia in the context of Russian military intervention in Ukraine.

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier spoke by telephone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the two heads of state resolved a dispute over the first visit to Kyiv, which had been refused, the presidential office in Berlin announced on Thursday.

Steinmeier planned to pay a visit to the Ukrainian capital with the heads of state of Poland, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania in mid-April, but was told shortly before his departure that he would not return.

Kiev’s decision came in the context of criticism of Steinmeier’s ties with Russia and his failure during his time as foreign minister to heed the warning of Eastern European states about the danger of Russian aggression, dpa notes, according to agerpres.ro.

Steinmeier expressed “solidarity, respect and support for the courageous fight of the Ukrainian people against the Russian aggressor” in a conversation with Zelenski, and both heads of state described the discussion as “very important” and “very good,” the presidential bureau said.
